COE price for category A slides in the latest bidding
Despite the recent announcement by Land Transport Authority (LTA) to shrink COEs quota, the premium for CAT A fell to $50,991, whereas premiums for both CAT B & CAT E rise.
We think this might be due to CAT A buyer who are more price sensitive holding back their purchase hence the fall in premium in the second bidding exercise in October. We felt that Cat A buyers will only swarm back if CAT A COE is below $50,000. As for Cat B we felt that there is room to move higher with the new quota cut effective next month. Hence we believe October & November PQP for Cat B will be lowest before it goes up. As for Cat A our view is neutral, you should renew only on your car expiry month.
